“Is Blogging Journalism?” Nieman Reports Is Blogging Journalism Comments. N.p., 15 Sept. 2003. Web. 20 Oct. 2014.
This article is essentially an objective article that discusses the problem “are bloggers journalist”? The author starts off by saying most journalists do not have a blog. This is because the story they are focusing on is what they write about, so after that what’s left to talk about? The author then goes into the general demographic of bloggers, which is comprised mainly of teens, even less of whom, don’t talk about current events. Most blogs are very specific “niche” blogs that attend to one general subject. The author does admit that bloggers are effective at calling out or stopping sloppy journalists. This is because it allows a public channel with users to see this information and bring attention to a certain journalist if they see erroneous reporting. So if blogging isn’t journalism it can at least help protect its integrity.
